WormingUp is an accredited social enterprise based in Kuching Sarawak, founded in 2015. We using insect farming (black soldier fly) as a means for organic waste disposal to avoid landfilling. We are a group of Borneo youths which keen on environmental issues. Our team members consist of different races, Chinese, Malay, and Dayak who all are of young ages under 30 and passionate about conserving our precious organic resources instead of simply dumping/bury.
(i) To transform waste into sustainable resources.
Through the natural power of bioconversion, our Black Soldier Fly maggots help convert organic waste into high-protein feed and organic fertilizer. What was once seen as waste now becomes a valuable product for farming and animal nutrition. This transformation not only gives new life to discarded materials, but also supports a more circular, regenerative system — where nothing is wasted, and everything has a purpose.
(ii) To take climate action through low-carbon waste management.
By reducing the amount of organic waste sent to landfills, we help minimize methane emissions, groundwater contamination, and unpleasant odors that harm our environment. Our Black Soldier Fly system is not just a waste solution — it’s a step toward restoring balance to nature and promote a low-carbon solution. Every kilogram of waste we divert is a step closer to a cleaner earth, healthier air, and safer ecosystems for future generations.
